The NoMa BID provides a variety of services to enhance the neighborhood and support its emergence as a prime business location within the District and a desirable residential neighborhood. The BID’s services supplement - rather than replace - services provided by the District of Columbia government. In many cases, the BID acts as a liaison between the local government and private entities that are cooperating to make infrastructure and community improvements. The BID’s current services include:

Clean Campaign - the BID’s uniformed street cleaning team from Gospel Rescue Ministries’ Ready to Work program started cleaning up NoMa’s streets in October of 2007. [ READ MORE ]

Public Safety - The BID staff coordinates with the Metropolitan Police Department and others to improve neighborhood safety and hosts monthly public safety meetings. The BID will launch a street Ambassador program in 2008. [ READ MORE ]

Marketing - The BID operates an extensive marketing program to create and sustain public interest in NoMa. The program currently includes a website, newsletter, public relations, media outreach and events. [ READ MORE ]

Infrastructure Coordination - BID staff work closely with District agencies and private property owners to improve infrastructure throughout the neighborhood with over $7 million of infrastructure investments planned for FY2008. [ READ MORE ]

Community Outreach - BID resources and activities are having a positive impact on the neighborhoods surrounding NoMa including the creation of new employment opportunities for nearby residents. [ READ MORE ]

Urban Planning and Design - The BID is bringing some of the best urban design and planning practices to NoMa, as the neighborhood builds out, to encourage sustainability, walkability, and create welcoming and vibrant places. As part of this effort, the BID is creating a requesting qualifications of artists and/or design teams as part of a new initiative, NoMa Artscapes: Transforming Public Spaces. [ READ MORE ]
