Washington, D.C., September 25, 2015 — What was once an old parking lot is now Lunch Box, Washington D.C.’s first and only lunchtime food truck pod. Over 500 guests enjoyed free ice cream, a variety of food trucks and a dueling piano concert at today’s grand opening.
NoMa is ground zero for great pop-ups in D.C. Lunch Box is the sixth pop-up space to open in NoMa in the past year. The NoMa BID helped to launch the Wunder Garten beer garden, REI Community Space, Yoga NoMa studio, Carpe Librum used bookstore, and the NoMa Junction @ Storey Park festival venue.
Lunch Box is a partnership among the NoMa BID, JBG Companies, and Brandywine Realty Trust. “We’ve mastered the zen of pop-ups,” said Robin-Eve Jasper, President of the NoMa Business Improvement District. “We’re grateful to work with the creative folks at JBG and Brandywine Realty.”
Located in the heart of NoMa at First Street and N Street NE, Lunch Box is an outdoor venue where people can have lunch on orange picnic tables and play games amidst building-sized murals. Lunch Box is open to the public weekdays from 11AM – 2PM. Every Wednesday at noon, there will be free concerts, giveaways, and food trucks.

Lunch Box will operate through the end of the fall, shortly thereafter construction will begin on JBG and Brandywine Realty Trust’s N Street NoMa development. This phase of the mixed-use project will bring great new retail, including a 7-screen Landmark Theatre, as well as 220 residential units, 119,00 SF of loft office space, and an additional 250,000 SF of office space.
