The JBG Companies will bring a 10-screen Cinema to Capitol Point

Washington, D.C., (November 8, 2013) — Landmark Theatres will bring a 10-screen cinema to the NoMa neighborhood as part of JBG’s Capitol Point project, just one block from the NoMa/Gallaudet U Metro station. Landmark’s high-quality theatres will offer moviegoers a host of modern amenities, including a full-service bar, luxury seats, reserved seat selection, 3D projection and a unique concession menu.

“Landmark is a terrific addition to the retail that is coming as this new wave of mixed-use development gets rolling in NoMa,” said Robin-Eve Jasper, President of the NoMa Business Improvement District. “We are hearing from other quality retailers interested in the NoMa neighborhood and they are going to do great here.”

Landmark will occupy approximately 31,000 square feet and anticipates opening in fall 2016. This location will be Landmark’s third in the Washington market, following its successful theatres on E Street in Penn Quarter and at Bethesda Row in Maryland.

With 40,000 daytime employees and more than 3,900 new apartments available now or under construction, NoMa is becoming a bustling neighborhood night and day. While NoMa forms the commercial core for the surrounding historic neighborhoods, more than 18,000 people live within a mile of First and M Streets, NE.

“We are excited to add the energy of a movie theater to the neighborhood at Capitol Point,” said Robin Mosle, a JBG executive vice president. “NoMa is taking shape beautifully, and if we can contribute to creating a dynamic social scene in the area, we couldn’t be more pleased.” The JBG Companies is developing Capitol Point – a mixed-use development located along New York Avenue at N Street NE. The project includes a 200-room Hyatt Place hotel that is currently under construction, over 75,000 square feet of retail, 600 residential units and one million square feet of office space.
