Washington, D.C., June 23, 2008… Ms. Dana Chieco has joined the NoMa (North of Massachusetts Avenue) Business Improvement District (BID) as Planning and Program Manager. Her responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of infrastructure and public space planning and implementation for the BID, including transportation, streetscape, sustainable design, public art, and parks.
Ms. Chieco joins the NoMa BID from the Urban Land Institute of Washington, D.C. where she served as Manager of Community Outreach. Prior to that, she was a Capital City Fellow within the District of Columbia Department of Transportation and a Public Service Fellow for the Charlottesville (Virginia) Community Design Center. Earlier in her career, she served as an Outstanding Scholar in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
Ms. Chieco holds as Masters degree in Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia and a Bachelors degree from Cornell University. She resides in Washington, D.C.
NoMa is an emerging mixed-use neighborhood north of the U.S. Capitol and Union Station in Washington DC. Private developers have invested approximately $1.5 billion to date with plans to develop over 20 million square feet of office, residential, hotel, and retail space in the area covered by the NoMa BID over the next 10 years. The BID provides daily street and sidewalk cleaning, safety ambassadors, marketing, events, and other services to make NoMa a clean, safe, and vibrant neighborhood for businesses, residents, and visitors.
