The new mixed-use project–to be known as The Highline at Union Market–proposed for the current site of a Burger King fast food chain at 320 Florida Ave., NE between Union Market and NoMa went before the D.C. Zoning Commission Monday night for a cursory review. In all developer Level 2 is requesting zoning relief or flexibility in 16 areas–ranging from flexibility in the number of residential units to flexibility to modify architectural details.
The Zoning Commissioners agreed to hear the case at a later date and requested that the developers return with more detailed plans for the public amenities being proffered, for the strip of District-owned land to be made into a pedestrian access and park and for the rooftop penthouse structures.
