The Beer List
Capitol City Brewing Company
–AMBER WAVES: American-style Amber ale with a lovely red hue and citrusy aroma from Columbus and Cascade hops. A fine balance of hops and sweet malt flavor. 5.6% ABV
-HONEY 21: Our 21st birthday beer is as lovely as your first legal libation! Brewed with white wheat and honey malt, lowly hopped, and zipped up with clover honey, coriander, and sweet orange peel, this fragrant beer is a great start to your good time! 5.3% ABV
District Chophouse
-HEFEWEIZEN: This beer starts with Pilsener Malt and Wheat Malt, with a touch of Caramel Malt for color. There is little to no hop character present. The star of the show is the yeast in this beer. During fermentation, aromas are produced using a special yeast from Wiehenstephan in Germany. Notes of banana, bubble gum, circus peanuts, and ripe fruit abound. A medium bodied and very refreshing beer, great in warmer weather. 5.6% ABV
-SOLIDARITY SUMMER ALE: This beer style was chosen to be brewed specifically for DC Beer Week. DC Brau hosted a collaboration brew and then any brewery could create their own version. This is an English Style Summer Ale, light in body with some malt presence and toastiness and finishes dry with a light crisp hop aroma. This version is single hopped with Amarillo, which adds nice grapefruit and citrus aroma. 5.6% ABV
DC Brau
-THE TRADITION: A unique, one-of-a-kind brew, crafted specifically for D.C. United and its fans to enjoy. Only 1,000 gallons of the beer was produced. A Golden Ale that will please a broad spectrum of palettes.
-HEURICH’S LAGER: DC Brau presents Heurich’s Lager starting August 12 – available at only a few spots during DC Beer Week, including at NoMa Beer Fest! DC Brau collaborated with DC Homebrewers and the Heurich House Museum to create Heurich’s Lager, a historical recreation of the pre-prohibition beer created by the Christian Heurich Brewing Company. Just as most DC residents are closely acquainted with DC Brau today, there was a time in recent history when many Washingtonians knew of Christian Heurich, his successful Foggy Bottom brewery, and his iconic mansion below Dupont Circle. The last time anyone tasted a Heurich beer was 1956, the year his brewery closed and made way for the Kennedy Center. The Chr. Heurich Brewing Co. had been the District’s last production brewery, and no others existed in the city until DC Brau opened in 2011.
Right Proper
NoMa Beer Fest presents the last three kegs available anywhere of “BRIMSTONE&CLOVER,” the first creation of Right Proper Brewing Company, which opens this fall in DC’s Shaw neighborhood. Right Proper collaborated with The Brewer’s Art in Baltimore to create Brimstone&Clover, a smoked gruit-style beer fermented with a saison yeast strain from Belgium.
The Brewer’s Art: The Brewer’s Art is a fine dining restaurant and brewpub in Baltimore, MD, set in an elegant Mt. Vernon townhouse.
-OZZY: Reminiscent of the Belgian devil beers (i.e. Lucifer, Duvel, etc.). Both rich and dry, this beer is all too easy to consume in large quantities. Hopped with Styrian Goldings.7.25% ABV
-BIRDHOUSE: An earthy, hoppy tribute to the Baltimore Orioles. This pale ale is the sort of session beer found in most bars in Belgium or Holland. Well balanced and mild, it is their most accessible beer. 5% ABV
Chocolate City
-FIRST COAST BOHEMIAN PILS: This Czech-Styled Pilsner has a rich gold Pilsner body, slight spice from a touch of rye and is aggressively hopped with Saaz Hops.
Three Stars: Stay tuned: details coming soon!
