Washington, D.C., April 20, 2007… The NoMa Business Improvement District (BID) has appointed Elizabeth Price to be its first President. Ms. Price will oversee all operations of the BID, which was approved by the District of Columbia Council last month. Through a special assessment collected from NoMA’s commercial property owners, the BID will help make NoMA safe, clean, and attractive for businesses, residents, and visitors.Ms. Price comes to the NoMA BID from the Anacostia Waterfront Corporation (AWC), where she served as Vice President and successfully led the national developer competition for a two million square foot billion-dollar mixed-use waterfront redevelopment. Prior to joining the AWC as a founding member, she served as a Project Manager in the office of Washington’s Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development; a development manager for the National Capital Revitalization Corporation; and a Special Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Housing Investments at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. 

The NoMA BID’s new President holds a Master’s degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. She earned her B.A. degree with highest honors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“Ms. Price brings expertise in managing large-scale public/private development projects, a deep understanding of the public sector, and a reputation for working collaboratively with local communities,” said Bruce Baschuk of J Street Development, Chairman of the NoMA BID Board. “She will be a tremendous asset as we move forward with development of an all-new, 24/7 mixed-use neighborhood just north of the Capitol.” Private developers are expected to invest over a billion dollars in NoMA this year alone, following the Federal government’s decision to locate the new ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) headquarters in the heart of NoMA.

The NoMA BID is bounded generally by Massachusetts Avenue on the south, North Capitol Street on the west, and Q and R Streets on the north; it also extends eastward just beyond the CSX/Metrorail tracks. Centrally located within the BID is the New York Avenue Metro Station, situated near the new ATF headquarters building. The BID’s office is at One NoMa Station, 131 M Street, N.E.
