Washington, D.C., May 21, 2014 – Filmgoers, rejoice: you can watch your favorite movies under the stars at NoMa Summer Screen next week! NoMa’s signature event series, showing 13 weeks of films fitting the theme “Unlikely Friendships,” will once again be held on the Loree Grand Field at Second and L Streets, NE.

“NoMa Summer Screen has become a favorite summertime activity for folks in the neighborhood,” said Robin-Eve Jasper, President of the NoMa Business Improvement District. “It’s a great time to catch up with friends and enjoy warm summer evenings to help melt away memories of the arctic winter.”

NoMa Summer Screen is a free, outdoor film series in NoMa, Washington, D.C.’s most connected neighborhood. Every Wednesday from May 28 to August 20, hundreds of neighbors gather at 7 p.m. for music, giveaways, food trucks, picnicking, and fun for all ages. Films start at dark. All movies are screened with subtitles. Coolers, children and friendly (leashed) dogs are welcome.  The 2014 series is sponsored by Storey Park, a 712,000 SF project with office, retail and residential in the heart of NoMa, coming in 2016. For more information, visit Developed by First Potomac Realty Trust and Perseus Realty.

Now in its seventh year, the award-winning series will feature “Unlikely Friendship” films: coming-of-age tales, time-travel comedies, `80’s classics, and more:

In 2011, NoMa Summer Screen was ranked one of the Top 10 Best Outdoor Movie Theatres in America by Travel and Leisure Magazine, and the NoMa BID won a Merit Award from the International Downtown Association for event programming. In 2013, each NoMa Summer Screen film averaged more than 700 viewers, peaking with 1,000 neighbors for a screening of The Princess Bride. Bring a blanket, Frisbee, or picnic cooler and connect with friends and neighbors as you enjoy great films under the stars.
