Washington, D.C., June 17, 2011 – BikeSpa returns to NoMa Tuesday: give your bike a day at the spa. Don’t have time to stop by the bike shop? Drop off your ride at 1200 First Street, NE, (at M Street, NE) between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, and the expert mechanics at BicycleSPACE will perform repairs in time for the commute home. The first 20 bikes are guaranteed same-day service; pick up between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The first BikeSpa event May 24 attracted 12 cyclists, providing unparalleled convenience for bike commuters and a low-key environment in which cyclists can ask questions. The mechanics at BicycleSPACE provide three standard ‘spa treatments;’ ask about other services on-site:
• Tired Tire Fix (replace inner tube, clean bike): $19.99
• Mechanic’s Massage (adjust and calibrate gears, clean bike): $29.99

The Biketastic campaign continues, with a variety of initiatives aimed at making NoMa the most bike-friendly neighborhood in DC. The NoMa BID has installed a public air pump in the northwest corner of First and M Streets, NE, just a block from the M Street access to the Metropolitan Branch Trail. Residents and employees alike have lauded the new pump, which is the first of its kind in the District.

Other Biketastic initiatives and facilities include:
• Bike-In Movie Nights: Ride your bike to NoMa Summer Screen on July 13, and receive fun and useful giveaways for cyclists. This year’s theme is TRAINS, but we love bikes just as much! Bring your friends, a blanket and a cooler. NoMa Summer Screens runs through August 10; view the full schedule. Location: Second and L Streets, NE
o July 13: Darjeeling Limited
• Artist Matthew Parker rides his ‘ArtTrike’ to Rhythm in NoMa, and will attend NoMa Summer Screen in coming weeks. Follow @NoMaBID for details. More information on the artist.
• The Metropolitan Branch Trail opened in 2010, and is now a favorite commuter pathway. The MBT runs 8 miles from Union Station to Silver Spring, Md.
• Bicycling Club: The NoMa BID is proud to partner with BicycleSPACE by supporting a cycling club. Meet other bike enthusiasts and explore surrounding neighborhoods and amenities as you roll. www.bicyclespacewdc.com

Biketastic is organized by the NoMa Business Improvement District and BicycleSPACE.
