Plaid-clad outdoorsy types galore gathered Wednesday night to hear more about what would inevitably become their new mecca: the 52,000-square-foot REI flagship the company has planned for D.C.’s NoMa neighborhood.
The REI store that will be located in the historic Uline Arena building on Third Street NE is the culmination of years of work to bring one of the brand’s rare flagships to the District. There are only four others nationwide: Seattle; Denver; Bloomington, Minnesota; and New York City. REI has six smaller stores in the Greater Washington area. Matt Alexander and Dave Dochter of Cushman & Wakefield Retail Services represented REI in the deal.
