Outdoors retailer REI is looking closely at planting its flag on the ground floor ofDouglas Development Corp.’s Uline Arena, the famed Northeast D.C. venue thathosted the first U.S. concert by The Beatles, but has not officially committed to leasing space in the project.
That’s the latest word from Douglas Development Senior Vice President Norman Jemal. I talked to Jemal Thursday morning seeking confirmation for a story reported by Urban Turf. The article quoted another Douglas Development executive that “a deal is done with REI” and that, while things have not been finalized, REI had committed to the project.
